Key Research Terminology

Key Research Terminology

Daniel Semakula
Task 1
After taking notes on your tutors explanation of key terminologies, complete the following handout:

What is a Primary source?
Using your own words/ making your own thing.
Example: This is research that you made, for example; make a surveys focused on different people, or notes that you make, proposals anything you have made.
Research that is THE original, what you made, you know exactly where it came from.

What are Qualitative results?
Things that can't be put into graphs.
Example: People's opinions, views, comments, quotes, views on the quality of things etc.
You can use people's opinions as quotes to show that a service is good or bad.
Identifying individual people is a lot easier this way, as no two answers can really be the same.

What are Quantative results?
Information that could be made numerical.
Example: Surveys that only have Yes or No questions, which can be easily put into
graphs, tables, Bar Charts.
For example:
Do you have a car?
Please circle ONE below.
Yes/ No

What is Market Research?
Finding out what your target audience wants.
Example:Again, could be surveys, questionnaires, etc. that could provide what people what, you can find some of these on online, in magazines, brochures, etc.

What is a Secondary source?

Example: Researching from sources that other people have made, i.e; other people's short films (you can find them online or in books, magazines etc.) and using them as something to inspire you.
Websites are also Secondary sources as you didn't create the webpage or found the information (unless you made the webpage or the information),
